Replatforming is risky when the old system is the business. A temple community’s portal handled seva bookings, donations and memberships on a Laravel codebase with real security debt, and it could not go dark.
Blueprint before code
We wrote the target design first: an API-first web app, a normalised schema, the payment providers, and the order in which each feature would move. Every phase shipped something usable, and the legacy portal kept running alongside.
Move the data once, in one transaction
The migration reads the old database, cleans and transforms each table, and writes the new one in a single transaction. If any step fails, nothing is half-moved. Old reversible credentials were replaced with one-way hashing on the way.
Keep the website, upgrade it
The public WordPress site stayed, but moved to new infrastructure, was upgraded and secured, and now hands devotees straight into the new portal.
